Nancy Stack

OAKVILLE – Nancy Stack – age 82 of Oakville passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday April 22nd 2018 at St. Mary’s hospital.

She was the widow of Edward D. Stack. Nancy was born April 13, 1936 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Maurice & Mary (Kelly) Connors. She was a graduate of Wilby High School class of 1954. Nancy being an exceptional typist of 120 words a minute, easily obtained employment as a Secretary for the Psychology Department at Mattatuck Community College, where she also was a Union arbitrator for the AFL/CIO. Nancy and her husband moved to Oakville in 1963, they both became active in their new community. Nancy was a member of the Watertown Democratic Committee, serving on the Committee for aging. She was also supportive of her children and their activities as a member of the PTA, a den mother with the Boy Scouts and as a cookie mom with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed cheering on her children and grandchildren at their various sporting events.

Nancy was a huge fan of Uconn girls’ basketball, she enjoyed watching the games with her sisters. Nancy participated in the Oakville Senior Center activities and was a member of the Wii Bowling team, The Falls Ave Strikers. She especially enjoyed when the students from Watertown high school came to the center for WII bowling. Nancy was a member of the Oakville VFW Post 7330 Women’s Auxiliary and was patriotic and very proud of her family history with the US armed forces. The most important thing to Nancy was providing for her children and supporting all of her family the best way a mother could. Among her survivors are her sons; Ned Stack of Oakville, James (Rizza) Stack of Bristol and Daniel Stack of Oakville, her daughters; Kathy Mondragon of Belleville, IL, Irene Welsh of Watertown, Maura Lugo of Oakville, and Linda (John) Hughes of Oakville.
