Obituary for Eunice Laviana

WATERBURY – Eunice E. Laviana of Waterbury, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017 at the Connecticut Baptist Home in Meriden. She was the widow of Walter J. Laviana Sr.

Eunice was born September 16, 1922 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late David and Edith (Hopkins) Reding. She was a graduate of Bunker Hill Grammar School and Wilby High School. Eunice grew up in Waterbury and worked as a filing clerk at the former Waterbury Clock and Farrell Foundry until meeting her husband. Soon after they relocated to Oakville where Eunice dedicated herself to raising her family. She lived there for many years until the death of her husband in 1997. She returned to Waterbury and lived there for the past several years. Eunice enjoyed singing and dancing and was a former member of the Java Music Club and enjoyed baking cakes. She attended First Congregational Church of Waterbury and First Congregational Church of Oakville and was involved in the Ladies Aid of Oakville, Daughters of St George and Odd Fellows Organizations.

She is survived by her sons, David Laviana and his wife, Patricia of Lakeland, FL and Walter J. Laviana Jr and his wife, Gail of Meriden as well as her grandson, Matthew Laviana of Meriden. She was predeceased by her lifelong friend, Marguerite Tapken of Wallingford.

Eunice’s family would like to thank everyone at the Connecticut Baptist Home of Meriden for the care and compassion they shared with Eunice and her family during her stay.
